The corn is thick and the beans are coming on in SW Ohio so I was off to the creeks and ravines today. My "Big Sandy" gravel bar didn't give up any flint but it did hand over a 1920-30's cork top.
A mile hike in the heat brought me to one of my ravines for the day and it handed me a vintage marble.
The ravine held lots of broken glass but no arrowheads as I climbed it. I got to my usual turn around and was outa water so I started back. In a pile of stones and mud I noticed that one of the rocks had a groove in it. NO WAY... Yes way. My first 3/4 grooved ax.
Damaged but still a sweet find worthy of a little happy dance.
