  • The Twins from The Hillside

I saw red first. Buried halfway I didn’t think it would be anything and saw the grey one a few inches from it. I picked it up and nearly walked away happy. Thought I should at least check out the red spot and tapped on it with my fingernail. Glad I did. Somewhat similar I wonder if they go together?

I’m in Atascosa county Texas with creeks close by.

Leave no stone unturned, my friend. Sometimes what you think is just a flake turns out to be a point and sometimes what you think is just a rock turns out to be an axe or a celt.

Nice finds I don't know how good you checked under them but they could be more hidden there, those type blades have been cached in the hundreds. The grey one looks like Nethers Flint Ridge chert from Ohio.

Nether Flint Ridge chert from Ohio? It is very different from anything else I have found. Amazing to me I have found material from Mexico, Colorado, Dakota’s and even:

          Hello Warren,
thank you for this interesting message.
It seems to be a piece of the North American tektite - bediasite.

          Very interesting!

Very true I have flipped many flakes to find out they are points. One time I was walking a creek and thought I saw a old bottle, reached down and pulled a Celt.

I’ve never dug anywhere on my land. I have found a few when just a little bit was poking out. This spot is definitely a tallow slope. The top was taken out long ago when the pond was built. I’m sure there’s a lot underneath the surface. I’m considering starting a dig. Anyone wish to come down? I afraid I would just break too much.

Hey Warren, did you paste this post in here, that you received from someone else? It’s showed up twice, and with the foreign language, I want to make sure there isn’t a scammer .

It did start a post and it was suggested that my little green stone might be Moldavite.
This is the reply I received.
My family fled the region long ago. Landed in Galveston Texas and walked to this area of south Texas.
I did find it at the mound I have collected many points from. I have always picked up chips, anything that might have been part of a tool and many rocks and stones that obviously don’t belong.

I thought I had started a post on this little guy.

it is mentioned in this thread. Others too I think.
I will start a new one in “What did I find” with more information about it and show the site and other items from this spot
