Dang looks like a ship weight or maybe they left that one on the bank to tie their canoe to so it wouldn’t float off. I can’t see it actually being in the canoe. It’s huge nice one Red

We make lots of big bugs !
My son and I did not get to go on our adventure, the weather guy got the forecast wrong, imagine that. Mikey and I did go out hunting yesterday in a horrific sandstorm. At times I could not see him in the storm at 50 yards. I found lots of lithics but only one broken point. I finally told Mikey it was just to rough and we went home..

Holy crap! Looks like you found the Mayflower anchor! I have never seen one that massive before. You should assemble all your net weights and take a picture.

Hey Red, That is a great anchor / weight. Someone from the East coast had posted a similar large notched anchor: I think it was Charlie.

Right you are, Ron. In fact, I told Red yesterday that I would post a link to that thread when he created this thread. I could have sworn I have seen a version of this thread that made the transition to our present forum, but a search only returned this archived thread from our previous generation of arrowheads.com. The first "anchor" described here reminds me of Red's. Super, super find, Red!! And on page 2 of this old thread, Jeff Matteson rediscovers his huge tri-notched weight:

There won't be any notched weights left out there, if you keep up this pace.
