    Hey hikergal, those are some great finds. That’s some high quality rhyolite, and I think you are correct about the Palmer and the crystal base savannah with the uneven shoulders is sweet too! I have a few palmers that I found around the triangle look very similar, I lived in the raleigh area for 15 years or so, but now I’m back down at the coast. Cheers, and keep up the good hunting.

      Thanks B.F., really appreciate the input from a central NC veteran! Mostly I find green rhyolite points and tools, and really treasure the quartzies and blue/black/gray ones when I get lucky enough.

      Hi there! It's not always easy, for sure. They're the same age range and lots of similarity. I use the Overstreet book and for this region, for this type of point, if it's medium to large size, it's a Kirk. If it's small, it's Palmer. Hope that helps!
