  • Thebes on the Ohio River

Found this “e” notched Thebes in Mason Co. West Virginia along the Ohio Rive this afternoon. I am pretty sure that it is an Early Archaic Thebes. My best artifact find to date.

That's an absolutely stellar example. Ohio Thebes/E-Notch/Archaic Bevel are usually worked down to nothing before being discarded, rare to see one with relatively low mileage.

      Congrats! How big is it?

Very nice, it's amazing how natural light and a picture taken inside with artificial light can make a artifact look.

I really don’t like the way the point photographed inside. Too dingy looking. Looks a whole lot better on the river bank.

That's one super find, congrats. 50+ yrs I have never found an E notch. WOW for sure

When point of the month for July comes up please enter that gem. Will be a contender.

Nice! Mason County isn't too far from here, you're in the WSAZ viewing area. A lot of good points come from there, none that I've found though, lol!

A closer look looks like the small piece of missing barb looks like an impact fracture, it sure left the sign of one.
