  • Old collection Frames

These all came from 2 different camp sites and were found back in the late 90's. The flint source was close and abundant. They had lots of material to practice with. I consider myself very lucky to have been able to dig in such rich sites.

The Clovis and the SMH point in the frame above are not from the sites I dug. The Clovis was found in Grey Forrest (Bexar Co) by a lady digging a garden and the SMH was found at the Sandpit in Wilson County

can you explain the purpose of hafting the drills like the ones in the top frame?

I wonder why those drills in the 1st frame would be hafted like they apparently would be. Seems weird to me.

They were probably not hafted. They were most likely dangling from a thong and tied around the wrist.

The drills were once corner tang blades, resharpened until they could no longer reach into a carcass to do the designed cutting. NA people were not wasteful , and then continued to use the tool to make a drill or punch.
