Nice finds Josie, that's how alot of my areas are like (especially in drought). Sometimes I take extra bottles of water just to moisten the soil because they're more important than my thirst 🙂. I didn't have to do it this year because it's been raining like crazy here.🐜 🎤 SW Georgia

Always interesting to see your finds , Josie. Quartz dominates your local cultures in the same way obsidian tops in Napa.
Quartz is much harder to read. Seeing as much as you do - and offering generous amounts for us to look at- is a fine chance to learn.
Some nice things there too.

I think quartz is beautiful and enjoy a well made quartz point as much as any. So many varieties too. From grainy smoke colored to clear fine crystal.
I occasionally find a piece that I suspect has been modified. I few scrapers and pecking tools and, one time, a discoidal, but never a point. So it's always fun to see your stuff, even when not everything is perfect.

Lol. Let’s see, I need a jackhammer, extra water to soften the ground, my phone, my ear buds, because I jam while I hunt, bug spray, my flipping stick, my lip gloss or chap stick, something to put my finds in, unless I break Rule #1 and just put them in my pocket, take sunscreen too. No wonder I can’t walk to my spots and instead have to take sxs.Last edited by Josie; 08-06-2021, 01:13 PM.

First, I love them ALL, except for just liking point coz ho-hum compared to company it’s in!! Each tool so unique!. First and last got that little curve/hook thingy going on that says to me, “yeah, sure, I can scrape, but lemme show you what can do with wooden turtle pendant you been making for your ma….”
And, loaf-shaped big guy! My pretender overloaded! But, that Pale, Orange-Tinged Lanceolate Beauty my favorite….I did not know Rhyolite could be so beautiful….
Also, got rid little green monster, and have grown set, so gonna start posting my quartz tools soon, a few at a time using Hal’s method of arrows and annotations. At minimum, everyone know not just sitting round watching Discovery Channel (much), waiting for y’all posts provide opportunity for quirky commentary; no, indeedy, been digging n digging, moving vast amounts Georgia clay…..!!Last edited by Cecilia; 08-06-2021, 07:52 PM.Digging in GA, ‘bout a mile from the Savannah River
