    Its cold out... I don't read much but I bought the first book listed below today. Looks really interesting... and pretty cheap on amazon. Also included are some others that some on this forum might find interesting reads while the ground is frozen outside. I can't vouch for any of them but I thought I would share.

      I'm in the middle of Blood and Thunder, the epic story of Kit Carson and the conquest of the American West, by Hampton Sides.
      Let us know your take on these and particularly Captured by the Indians. I love reading first hand accounts!

        Sounds like a great idea Greg.  I didn't buy the bottom 2.  Only the first one about the captures.  Read The Frontiersmen by Eckert!  You will absolutely love it

          Just finished the book Captured by the Native Americans.  15 detailed accounts.  Really gives you an insight on the Native ways of live and how they treated their prisoners.  Some good some bad but it was a very good read.
