We were taught in California schools about the Spanish invasions . The devastation on the Myan’s and Aztecs for their gold . Studied there culture and did reports on them.
The Spanish had a big cultural impact that can still be seen from street name to the El Camino Real bell that are markers on Hwy 101 .
