    By what I can tell it looks like some of the recently fabricated stuff I see at Traders Village in Arlington Tex.
    Made from a flake and barbed with a nail.
    That is why the question of; was it purchased?

    Your find is without a doubt genuine. (Ancient in the extreme)

    BTW: Did you know Root Beer Flint is a misnomer.
    It is actually chert.
    The only known flint I am aware of, in Central Texas, is the Georgetown "Blue".
