  • Davidson County NC yard find?

I picked up this broken rhyolite point in my back yard years ago. I’ve looked at all the typical points from NC but I’m still not sure what this one is?

I figure it had to be at least 3” before it was broken.

I don’t know what it is, but that base is lovely. 👍👍

Yes the base is lovely and it’s also what makes it hard to tell what it is?

Interesting and not unexpected we have a Hamilton Point in FL from the same time period that is very similar. Stanley's brother from another Mother....
If I'd found that in my backyard it would be typed a Hamilton. Nice find, love that base.

Thank you for all the thoughts and opinions. This is the only artifact I have found in my yard. I’m planning to dig up a get rid of some over grown hedges before spring. Maybe I’ll find something in the process? I’ll defiantly be sifting through the dirt.

The Stanley point is one I considered along with the Heavy Duty. The base isn’t ground enough but Dalton even crossed my mind. Stanley is the most likely answer. I looked for the rest of it but had no luck. I sure would have liked to have seen it before it was broken.

I guess you never know what you will find when you start digging? I have permission from my wife so I’m going to have at it. Now I need to make a nice sifter.

That is a nice point. Hope you find a slew of them.
