  • hand chopper? crude axe? work in progress?

Found this awhile ago on an embankment near the Potomac River. I have found many artifacts at this location. Not sure what to make of it. Looks like it might have started off as an adze in progress and then never quite made it or a crude hand chopper to clear some trees. Your thoughts appreciated.

A lot of the choppers are crudely made and that could very well be one.

Looks like a large removed piece by the curve of it but I dont think it was finished maybe just discarded. Keep it as a study piece.

You have to look for wear on the "tips." If there is none then it was probably just checked for quality and discarded.

I'm not sure but one thing I do find is that if they needed it st the time then they did it.somerimes crude and sometimes out of what all what available some pretty rough so def could be. Do u find allot of that type of rock in your area.
