  • Creek find... what is it?

Hello! This 4” stone was found in a creek in Jackson Co, Mo. Anyone know what this is by any chance? What it was used for? Thanks!

I think It's a failed Preform, maybe broke during The Percussion Work. Cool Find & look's like good Material.

Very nice material and its probably not finished they would of knocked off the narrow section imo if it was complete would of made a nice scraper or point.

Looks like the NA’s were reducing it , knocking off flakes to make points.. So , after reduction they did some edge work to make a rather large scraper.. Keep looking that creek. JJ

I’m with JJ, I think this is a core of material they were using.

Yep, looks like they had the flat end set up for more flakes, but then... They had to do some scraping.

That would have been something special with that material .
