Found a couple of cool pieces.

Particularly happy with the chert blade as it's quite rare that I find anything but obsidian.

The obsidian point is a nice example of knapping.

The biface preform is brutal, ugly and pleasing to find.

Hope they are showing now....I got a 'topic unapproved' message. Not sure why.

Oh ya that blades material caught my eye right away!! So awesome looking.

That obsidian point looks like it's still sharp enough to drop an elk!! Haha

Really surprising that I found that green piece as my eye is adjusted to look for black shiny stuff. It's a trick to keep your mind receptive to shape as well as colour and size.
Mind you my eye for the black stuff is honed to a point. That nice obsidian piece was just a little black pin-prick dot in the gravel, I gently tugged it free and was stoked to find it complete and gorgeous. It had been buried vertically with only the very tip of the distill end showing. Like a baby Excaliber!

Haha thats freakin awesome!! Makes it even more of a memorable find. The worksmanship shown on a lot of yours and others obsidian pieces are always a treat to see! I bet your heart was pounding out of your chest finding that blade!!

I believe there is green obsidian (though not around here) but I think it would have a more glassy look.

I'm calling that blade Franciscan Chert as I know there are sources not too far away and it has that waxy chert look.

It's lovely material whatever it is....

The green artifact is most likely chrysoprase and the Obsidian point is upside down maybe a Willits Side Notched nice finds .

Just googled chrysoprase and I think it's too translucent to be the material.

Is there a reason it couldn't be chert?
