Tool or fool?

First time posting, long time lurker. I’m grateful for all the knowledge I’ve read through the years and hoping I might have a little help please.
I found this object in East Texas, near the Brazos River on a shell bar in a tributary creek bed. I thought it might be a fishing weight but at this point I’m not even sure. It does resemble some mallets I’ve seen in collections online but I greatly welcome your opinion, thank you!

Looks natural to me, but you’re in a prime area along the river to find not just NA artifacts but fossils as well. Good hunting!

I want to welcome you as well, and I agree with Tomclark...I found something very similar while diving in the Caribbean and thought I had discovered an artifact, but when I got it dried off I saw what it really was...
