Sorry, forgot the quarter to share pics with one of my Columbia Co, Ga quartzes that’s about 2 inches tall. Is it or was it maybe a Halifax? It’s definitely bifacially worked, but can’t see “wedge” knapping (?) too well in pics. It is thick, but Halifax’s are thick, according to Peach State Archeological Society’s description. (Every statement I’m making really should have question mark at end!)

I'm not sure how to type it, but it is a...sumthin'.
I'm sorry I couldn't find a better picture, but the white point at the bottom is a Halifax. My dad found that in Virginia, and it is thick.
I would have just posted a pic of the Halifax, but I don't know where it is at the moment."The education of a man is never completed until he dies." Robert E. Lee

I would call that an expedient knife or tool... You can see flakes taken off the qiartzite... I find a lot of stuff like this, and I imagine that it served a purpose to cut scrape or dig something. That quartz is brittle and a second look tells me it could have been a pre form as well!North Carolina

They worked it down as far as they could without it breaking in half. The lump on the one side is called a stack. Normally they would remove it but probably saw it might break so left it on. I would guess it was probably used as a knife/scraper. I doubt they would toss it if material is scarce in your area. Got one and probably more where you found it. NiceNW Georgia,
