  • Strange tool

    Recently found this one at a new site.

    Looks like it was flaked like a blade or something, but way too massive for that.

    Was it a hammer stone, axe ect?

    Def a first out of all my finds.

    That does have an unusual appearance. I would guess a broken adze. Almost looks like two uniface scrapers sandwiched together. 🙂 I always like the oddball tools.

      No, not really. Oddball is just what I call artifacts that visually don't fit into the obvious type style. Whether it's a hardstone pieces with strange edges/shape or a big hunk of worked chert that's intent isn't obvious. Basically, me saying I don't know enough to identify what I see. Eccentrics are usually a well worked/multi notched piece of chert with no obvious use. Both make me wonder what they were used for but an eccentric is technically a "type".

    Broken hard stone now you have to find the other half which is possible just as long as it didn’t break while swinging it.
