  • Blade or Spear?

    Hello,

I found this on the river near St. Louis, MO and was hoping someone could help me identify it so I can also get an idea of age. It looks like it has a blunt tip, not broken. Any help is appreciated. Thank You.

Looks similar to Sedalia points I have from the town of Sedalia. Those are found in your area. I would say a knife but many ancients used them as both. Very nice, nice find! Congrats!

Might be a waubesa blade that has been re-sharpened many times removing the waubesa shoulders.

I can see how it might be that when I google waubesa point images.

If the tip isn't broken might have what is called a chisel tip

Thank you everyone! I really appreciate everyone taking the time to comment! I looked up each suggestion in the identification guide. I think what I've learned is that it a blade/ knife of some variety. Very exciting! It;s the longest piece I've managed to find so far! I'm still learning! It's really a challenge when some pieces were used so much and changed form over time! Thank you all for contributing to my continued education!
