  • A Little Help Please, Odd Looking Stone, East Central Missouri, Creek Find.

I don't have any ideas on this thing. I picked it up, put it down, and then picked it up again and brought it home. I do that sometimes. Indecisiveness is a real issue with me, sometimes I want to keep everything, other times I toss something that I later find out I should have saved.

Here's one I saved (not really sure why), sticking out of the side of a small creek that trickles down a hill into a river in Eastern mid-Missouri, near St. Louis, 1st of July.
    Thanks for looking.

Yes, it's odd allright. Honestly do not see any character other than minor incidental edging on one edge.
It is a "Rock" when it's on the ground.
It is a "Specimen" when picked up and taken home.

It's an ancient percussion flake/spall and as such is an ancient artifact. It looks like it may have been used briefly and then discarded.

Looks like a waste shard too me, keep looking in that area; it's a good sign.

I agree with Ron. The fine edge work on one side looks as if it may have been used as a small hand held knife for a short time.
