Looks like some kind of agate to me. I doubt it is Fordite. Pretty cool specimen. Is it solid between the layers or does it seem to be eroded out between the white lines? It very well could be melted glass.Last edited by Hoss; 07-03-2020, 12:27 PM.TN formerly CT Visit our store http://stores.arrowheads.com/store.p...m-Trading-Post

Neat specimens.
This is very clearly fossilised marine debris... of a kind sometimes designated as 'reef deposits'.
The large indentations are the inner sides of bivalves and some of them are clearly oyster shells. There are a number of striations and cellular structures which are obviously organic (a few examples ringed below). Mostly they seem to be shell fragments, perhaps with some plant debris, but the twig-like structure with a mesh-like surface pattern ringed at the left of the second picture is a bryozoan.
The preservation is unusual, but it looks like the matrix cementing the debris together was a heavily stratified sediment and has become agatized.I keep six honest serving-men (they taught me all I knew); Their names are What and Why and When and How and Where and Who.
