  • Napping stone or tool?

This is my largest find so far. I think it's either a rock used in knapping or it's a tool of some sort. It fits comfortably in my hand. Any ideas?

Probably was a core. Than served as a chopper.
that big ol’ boy certainly would have got the job done.

When you say chopper do you mean a hand axe? I would lean that direction because it appears to have some abuse (small chippings on the bottom) then there's an area where the small chippings abruptly end where it looks like a piece is broken off. It's hard to see in the photos but it's there.

It takes big spalls to make big blades, and this piece looks like a spall that was in process of being made into a blade or perform and something was wrong with material or they did not go any further working it.

There is this area that appears to have been worked. It looks like they wanted to take the edge off?

That looks more like a big flake removal, the ripple type effect is the fingerprint of the shockwave as it traveled to the termination point, which in this case Wes an overshot... Nuther words, it ran off the blade, better pic.might confirm it...

Interesting. That would explain the consistent pattern I suppose.
