  • Clovis?

I almost talked myself out of going hunting this morning....either way I'm glad i went....i think i found a Clovis...it has some ear damage, but overall, in nice condition, especially due to age, if in fact i have found my first clovis....i see a little fluting on one side, but id like to get more eyes on this and see what your thoughts are....any input is appreciated..... Very nice find Benji, if not fluted it has been basally thinned and the sides are ground. Excellent work!

Sure has all the signs, shape, ears, base thinning, hafting area grinding. One face has what looks like a flute that has been reduced by later base thinning. Never have found a whole clovis but have a few of the replicas from LCL just for looking at traits. If I found this point it would go in the book as a clovis. In any case you made a super find, that's a WOW . congrats.

Are you on Cloud Nine, looking down upon the regular folks going about regular stuff? I may not know much about arrowheads and points, but I do get this ā€œMomentā€ !
    Congratulations!

Your point don.t have the diamond outline or straight edges of the blade for a redstone.

I agree....i wasnt too convinced of a redstone either

Looks like one to me, unfortunately never handled one in real life, so my opinion doesn't count for a lot. I did spent some extra time researching them early this month when I found a fluted/basal thinned piece. People seem to love splitting hairs over what to call these points. I don't think there is much doubt it's at least close to the age if a Clovis.
