  • In between Frankfort and Chillicothe mounds

Ross county Ohio found on the Highest spot on our farm I find a lot of archaic and hopewell points. Lately shells have been showing up. I mostly find all the points about halfway down to the creek. But I have myself convinced that this is something old and something man made. I find a lot of stone that are smooth or polished but the ones I think should be Celsius don’t have the bit that I see everyone’s else have. Thank you in advance.

So you figured it out for yourself...If it doesn’t have a bit like all the others you’ve seen, it’s not a Celt, but don’t stop lookin,

I’m thinking it is a piece of fire cooked rock/ campfire stone.

I see mostly just rocks, including the first one. I can’t tell from the pictures if it’s pottery or not, but leaning not. The pictures crop out the object in everyone.

Just cause you are looking near some mounds doesn't mean you are going to find artifacts. Just like us they picked a area to live and a area to hunt they liked. If it wasn't what they were looking for they didn't go there. The home I live in now for over 10 years I've never once gone past my fence in the backyard.

I know. It was in reference to where I’m located. The property is loaded with scrapers points and flakes. I’ve never got into the hard stone or pottery side of things. I’m not one to jump the fence an exaggerate a plain ole rock to be something it’s not. I was just curious if someone could help me out. Since I’ve never seen any. comparing pictures on websites wasn’t helping me.

Reason why you couldn't find anything to compare it to is it's not a native American artifact imo. Could be colonial but I believe it is a piece of a glazed pot. It at least looks old just not NA old. Thanks for asking
