Just kind of a wild guess on my part. Up here they find similar artifacts that are said to be weights used on the top of drills. They made them in different sizes for putting some weight on the top of the shaft used to drill. Just a guess OK.

      Hi Chris,
I think that would be called a steatite cooking stone. Heated up, it could be added to a hide container to heat up the stew. The hole made it easier to remove. At least that is the theory of cooking before pottery.
Other theories as to its use- fishnet weight, rabbit net weight, boat anchor(they get very large)or crude thick ornament. From some of the accumulations of these I've seen found together around the pre-pottery hearth, I think the cooking stone theory may be correct. Or, maybe it was ALL of the above.

I dont know about the cooking stone because of the wear around the hole.  It looks as if a string has wore some groves on each side of the hole..
I found this on the top of Black Mountain .

Well, that eliminates boat anchor if it was on top of Black Mountain!
Can you take a closeup or two of that stone, both sides?
