When I first saw this under the water I was excited, thinking that I had found my first point in over year. I have been finding many tools, but points seem to be elusive. But, when I picked it up, a little disappointment set in. It looked to thick to be a point, flaking is hard to see of there is any, but there might be signs of it from the ridge in the middle of the "stem", so I dismissed it as a rock that looks like a point. But I took it anyway to add to my growing set of natural pieces that look like points I am building to help identify what is not a point.
I continued to look at it though, and now I am not sure. A Gary was found in this same spot about a year ago, so that is another reason why I am wondering. Could this have been an attempt to make a little Gary, but was abandoned because the material was too thick? Or is there a possibility that it, for some reason, was intended to be thick? The bottom is completely smooth.
