  • Paleo and Dalton contest

I know we have a contest each month for recent finds. But some guys can’t get out to look anymore like Hal and Oldrocks. I think it would be nice to have a contest where some can enter a past find maybe your best ever. I could enter one I have but it wouldn’t win against some I believe a few people have. Might be a really good looking thread to. Just an idea to let some of the others have a chance to win. Of course it would be on the word of the posters that it’s a actual personal find and not a purchase.

Not a bad idea, but in my opinion it would just be a "mine is better than yours". I have full faith in our members that that kind of behavior won't happen here, but it's something to consider.

See, it's turning out to be a pretty good thread!! Post the Paleos up it's no contest now LOL. I've been hunting and collecting for a looong time and only have a few paleopooters and paleopieces... all of which I am thrilled with. Square knife found in association with Suwannee points. What I have found. The one in hand was 1951, the 3-5/8 was 78 and the clunkers were 91 and 08. Have a few T-Paleo but not Daltons That's all folks. Click image for larger version

Here are some from the middle of Montana.. some have been confirmed by pkfrey as paleo. A couple I strongly suspect are, based on what I have learned from members of this forum. Mostly opinion, based on the depth found, flaking, and overall outstanding craftsmanship. Liam's field find is included..

my best one is an example of porclinite perfection. A 11000 year old milnesand point. I illustrated the sides to show the area that's ground completely smooth.

It was very special. It was coated in wet clay and it really didn't show itself until cleanup. My son will never forget it. He was only maybe 6 when I found it and he still looks at it and says " it could have been mine".
