Pictures that do not belong on the thread

Hi INV83 and welcome back!

As you may have noticed, the forum has been upgraded to a new piece of software, which necessitated all of the existing data to be migrated from one platform to another. The problem you have noted is randomly spread across the forum and has largely resulted from the coincidental use of the same file names for pictures by different posters in different places. The new software has not properly recognised the duplication of file names. The developers are aware of the issue and have been working on a universal solution, but we are still waiting for an answer on whether that can be achieved. In the meantime, the advice is not to apply individual corrections to these errors since that may result in pictures being lost altogether.

Thanks for providing links to places where the errors exist... it helps the developers in tracing the problem... but for the time being we just have to be patient.

I just logged in after a couple of years and noticed other people's pictures in some of my posts. I'm also missing pictures from my spherical game piece post. Please assist me, thank you.

The very first picture “edwards.jpg” showing an arrowhead does not belong in this thread. The correct picture (showing some club-shaped stones) has the same file name and appears in an incorrect position later in the thread.

The picture “dog.jpg” showing a hot dog does not belong in this thread. The correct picture has the same file name (but shows the rear end of a dog) and appears in an incorrect position later in the thread.

Please provide links below to the topics you find which have the wrong pictures and we will be working on them moving forward. For now please do not remove any content as those pictures do belong to some thread even if they are in the wrong thread now. The action of removing them would cause an irreversible reaction. The wrong picture would be deleted and not recoverable to be placed in it's correct topic. Please if you find a post add a link to that post below in this topic. We need these links for references so I can show the development team what pictures are the actual on the old site. I commented abpove to a couple of you because information given was incorrect.Please do not attempt to remove any pictures!

Guys, we are in Shane's hands here. I know he is looking at a fix but I don't know if attempts at manual correction will upset what he is doing or not. I will flag this issue again to him and invite him to respond.

I think that as of right now they are dealing with them on a case by case basis as there are so many of them. But you can always ask first .
