Lost notifications

Hey all. I could use a little help. Im using my cell phone for this. The problem is when i have notifications, lets say 5, i click notifications, check out the first one and when i go back to check the rest they have disappeared, and the number, lets say 5 again has also disappeared. I cant find them anywhere. Somewhere i read to change filter settings. Cant find that either. Ive looked so long my eyes are going to bleed.😂😂 thanks
