  • Strange Posting Result

Something I noticed recently. When posting links in threads, if I post a couple of links, even if the second link is posted 6” further down the page, which, visually looks ridiculous, clicking on the second link results in the first link showing up. For instance, in the thread below, I had to post the third link in a separate comment altogether. If I posted that link in my first comment, the result would be the second, not the third, link opens. As one clicks on the third link, when posted in the first comment I posted, one can actually see that both links can be seen briefly being clicked on, and the second, not the third link, will open. This will happen even if I scroll down several feet(!!!) from the second link before posting. Forcing me to place the most recent link into a second comment altogether, rather than the comment I would have preferred to post the link. Hope I’m making sense here, not easy to describe.....

I just reproduced the problem above. Click on the second link above, and you will not open that link. You will open the first link. At least that’s what happens when I click on the second link above. Let me know if you get that same result. Again, I think if I scroll down several feet to post that second link, the same thing happens. I don’t know if this is just a glitch affecting only me. This will be extremely inconvenient when trying to create a hopefully informative comment that might require posting more than just a single link. Can be corrected by simply posting another link in a second comment, but why would I have to even do that?

After you posted the first link you clicked enter: That continues the link.

After posting the first link I typed this line and that will allow me to post another link.

Charlie you could number them: That would solve the problem:

I’m clueless here. These seem to be three distinct threads, not one thread with multiple hyperlinks posted. I thank you Ron, but I’m lost completely now.....

Not sure but now I'm wondering if a space before the second link would work:
      https://forums.arrowheads.com/forum/...n-points-frame
      https://forums.arrowheads.com/forum/...w-small-points
      https://forums.arrowheads.com/forum/...e-ky-hornstone
      OK That worked too.

After pasting the first link I hit enter then two spaces and pasted the second link. After the second link I hit enter and two spaces then the third link. When I hit "Post" the spaces were gone and still the links are not joined. This works.

Thanks, but I’m slower than even I realized I guess, lol. Did not understand any of that. All I know is the problem I described began about two weeks ago, and never before in the 10 years I’ve been posting to our forum. Never had any problem adding more than one link to a thread comment before. I just don’t understand what Ron is trying to tell me. I won’t be surprised if I am the only one who doesn’t get it though.....

I couldn’t follow Ron, either, but didn’t really (wanna) try. These days, I gotta pick ‘n choose for what I’m gonna make an effort! Lotsa stuff I just let go by the wayside.... What you said in your post that’s immediately after this one, pretty much sums up way I feel ‘bout lotsa stuff these days. You are not alone!

No need to try and bring me up to speed any further. I am not capable of understanding the problem, and not capable of finding a correction. No big deal, it’s my problem....

As I mouse over your link Charl it highlights both links. Are you using a PC or are you using the Ipad?

You could try typing text between your links this way they will be separated. It could be something to do with your auto correct. Have you updated your device recently?

Actually, it’s a latest generation iPad. Nothing but problems since I purchased about 3 months ago. It’s going into the dumpster today, along with the good money I paid for it, since I still owe several hundred. The frustration is not worth it anymore. My old iPad is slower than a snail, but at least it works. This one is heading for the dumpster....

Hmm. Did not see this reply before replying to your identical second attempt. I see that here you have reproduced the first problem I am having.

Energy and Minerals - A vein-type depositis a fairly well defined zone of mineralization, usually inclined and discordant, which is typically narrow compared to its length and depth. Most vein depositsoccur in fault or fissure openings or in shear zones within country rock

Thanks, Hoss. This confirms a second problem. First, both links do open in your comment. My first problem is that, even if I hit “return” 50 times after the first link, putting the second link way, way down in the comment, if I click on the second link, both links “hyperlink”, as it were, that is, I see both links being clicked on, and only the first link will open.

The second problem, is, if I try to quote you, and reply to your comment in a separate comment, clicking on return does not allow my reply to appear after your comment. My cursor appears in the middle of your reply, or, in other words, directly after your first link. So, I now can no longer reply by the “quote method” if the comment I am quoting contains more than one hyperlink. I assume this will make it tough for me to ever reply to any comment in a thread, if that comment has any text beneath any hyperlink. My reply will always cut a comment in half, with my reply appearing after the first hyperlink, and the remainder of the comment I am replying to appearing underneath my reply.

I will try a different browser in a bit, but I think it’s safe to assume these problems only affect me.

Hey Charlie, They probably have not had enough time to iron out the problems with the new iPod. Updates should help.
