Avonlea is a true dart point the size would not work for a knife it had one thing to do and that was to kill animals

Chad, we will get these entered into the information center. I will get it done, but need a few days. Remind me if I forget. Beautiful points.

Those are absolutely dart points and awesome ones at that. I know that I always comment on the lithic but here in my area of Illinois that color does not come up very often. The natural colors really accent the flaking in those pieces. Is that the natural luster of the material or do you shine them up? Really cool finds Chad...

They were cleaned with a toothbrush and water. I guess our soil is kinder to the lithics than in some areas of the country. Where i found these the soil is a deep black. They are just as shiny when they pop out, very easy to spot, unless its obsidian.

Before entering in the typology center you might check some references concerning whether the Avonlea is considered a dart point or an arrow point.

Thanks Greg. I had planned on it, and then when the question of arrow vs dart points came up, I was going to let it get cleared up before I posted it. Then I totally forgot. You’re the man!
