  • Fox Valley Truncated Barb

Wide bladed and thin with bifurcated bases. The haft region is narrow and varies straight to expanding. The short ears project downward or flare slightly. Blades can be highly symmetrical and curve upward gracefully. Percussion and pressure flaked and often exhibit an asymmetrical blade. They may have been made from pentagonal preforms. The blade edges are typically incurvate, sharp tipped and often serrated.
Deemed to be from the Early Archaic Period, from 6200-5800BC.
Distribution is very localized, found primarily in Indiana, Illinois, parts of Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin and Michigan.
