    is it true that turkeytail (red ochre) points r not found west of the mississippi river and they also were known to have worked copper ???

    I have not heard of a Turkeytail found west of the Mississippi River. They are a product of Late Archaic/Early Woodland peoples and I have never heard of copper being found on these sites. If someone has contrary information I would to hear it.

    Im a little late.. but I like turkeytails alot also..
    These are 3 found together in a cache in a rockshelter near big spring KY.. they were found broken in half killed, and were glued back together.. they are the fulton type two are hornstone, one is of sonora..

    Pics do not do these justice but here are a couple I have acquired in the last year
    The 4 and 1/2" one is from Indiana X Carruthers The other is made of Dover I have to check my record cannot remember if it was KY or TN. I will try and replace these pics with better pics.
