  • Conerly

A medium to large auriculate point with a contracting, concave base which can be ground. On some examples, the hafting area can be seen with the presence of very weak shoulders. The base is usually thinned. Believed to be related to the Guilford type. The type was named for the Conerly site near Sardis in Burke County, Georgia. Once called the Brier Creek Lancelot point, and the one with the slight shoulders has been called a Savannah River Dart point but they were officially named the Conerly point. At the Phinizy Swamp site in Richmond County GA an Feature was dug that contained Conerly points and was dated to 4805 BP. This is a middle archaic point type.
Localized point along Savannah river into Ga. and South Carolina
