  • Stillwell

    The Stillwell is a medium to large corner notch. They are Early Archaic, dating in the 7000 B.C. range. It has an expanded stem with straight to slightly concave base with basal edges usually ground. Many examples are serrated. Distribution is Illinois,Missouri, Indiana, NW Mississippi, Western Tennessee, and Western Kentucky and NW Arkansas.

    The two examples shown are from Central Illinois. The larger is 3 1/2 inches. The smaller example has been extensively resharpened.
