  • Neville Variant

The Neville Variant point appeared in the Middle Archaic, somewhat later then Neville points. They are very similar to Nevilles, but terminate in a rounded short stem, rather then square as in Neville. They are contemporary with Stark points and are similar in appearance, but the shoulders are more defined then in Stark points as well as a shorter stem then Stark points. May be related to Poplar Island points as well.
From coastal RI, on the left a thin serrated quartzite example, on right a felsite example.
