Wading River

Named by William Ritchie for the Wading River site in Ny, Wading River points date Late Archaic into Late Woodland, making them poor time markets outside of context. They are small points that can have no shoulders, one shoulder, square to rectangular stem, rounded or lobate base point. They are considered products of a quartz pebble industry (the vast majority in New England were fashioned from quartz pebbles, not cores or quarried stone). Quickly made, this may explain their varying stem shapes. Here is Ritchie's description from the NY typology:
