Chasing History: Cherokee Treaty Site on Long Island, Kingsport, TN
Check out this interesting video about Long Island in North East Tennessee. A fantastic video from our very good friend Chase Pipes
Here's Chase talking about Long Island in Kingsport, TN. This island was the main treaty site in East Tennessee and considered so sacred by the Indians that it was the last piece of land the Cherokee ceded to the government in Tennessee. Today it is covered in businesses and factories but the Eastman Chemical Company (who originally built on the island) has donated a few acres for a park and one back to the Cherokee nation.
