    AACA - Lithics by Region
    Posted by [Painshill]

The Authentic Artifact Collectors Association has a clickable map for lithics by region but currently only has pictures without any description of material properties or quarrying sources:

University of Iowa - Lithic Reference Pictures (Iowa and other states)
Link provided by [Hoss] & information from [painshill] & [gregszybala]

The University of Iowa “Chert Drawers” page provides links to pictures of a wide variety of lithic material specimens (not just cherts) here:

      The specimens are divided into:

      - In-State Lithic Drawers (ie specimens from Iowa)
      - In-State Micro Lithic Drawers (Iowa specimens shown in detailed close-up)
      - Out-State Lithic Drawers (ie specimens from states other than Iowa)

Within each of the above sections, the specimens are grouped by geological time period. Generally, it is difficult to navigate around the collection and impossible to have a “see-at-a-glance” view of an entire group… but there are lots of great pictures to assist in identification and origin.

The site currently includes Canada and most states from Ohio down to Tennessee and the West.
