  • Where should I focus?

Where would you suggest looking from this map? Also is this generally the kind of map you guys use? Its the Terrain option on Google maps.

I would walk that creek to the left.and look around the shore lines.

Lake Erie is a glacial lake formed roughly 10,000 years ago when the last of the glaciers receded. I would think Natives of all cultures lived along the shoreline, but where is really guess work. But I would be scouting the shoreline, and along any available land along any of the major streams that feed into the lake. Like every where else, probably much of the shoreline is now tourist attractions or state parks, but I'm sure there would have to be shore line places where you can still find good artifacts.

Here's a usgs topo map of the area...the north and east edges are huge steep sandy bluffs...paleo points and artifacts were found here in the 70s by a local college.

The topo map you uploaded will not enlarge enough to see enough detail. However as previous posts indicate you should be looking for relatively fresh broken ground, creek beds (wet or dry), washouts, these type of areas do the work for you. Now you have to walk them and use your best eye to try and pick out artifacts from the surrounding terrain and ground clutter. ...Chuck

Check with city ordinances to make sure you can hunt in the park.

I would say from the maps, I would look at the ground That's where I find my artifacts.
Really USGS is better Google maps are great and using them together as Topo and Arial will help. But the advice given already should help, but there is nothing like doing the leg work.
Look to the ground for it holds the past!

You can also pick any town using Google maps. Look up arrowhead lane or street road etc. then look to see if there is any nearby agriculture. Those roads did not get named arrowhead by chance it was due to finds in the immediate area.
