  • Information Threads

If you open up any of the main categories (the headers in CAPITAL LETTERS) in the “Information Center” and click on “New Topic” at the bottom then you should be able to post a new thread. Those sections are not locked. Your post will appear at the bottom, below all the subcategories that are listed. While your post is there, it can be commented on by others and you can make further additions or amendments if you wish.
Think of the area where you are able to post as a kind of “waiting room” where your post will be reviewed by one of the moderating team. That may not happen immediately, but the mods are committed to reviewing the waiting rooms on a weekly basis at minimum (and there may be times when there is an “overload” of posts). All such posts may be retitled for clarity or edited for brevity before being moved into the subcategory where they best fit the indexing structure. Occasionally, a post may be added on to an existing thread to reduce duplication of topics. Once it has been moved to a subcategory, it will be locked so that only the moderating team can add to or edit it. All of the subcategories are locked.
Some posts may occasionally be moved out of the Information Center to the discussion section of the forum where they will remain unlocked. As a general principle, we are striving to ensure that all entries which are ultimately “filed” in the Information Center subcategories should:
    - Have an intuitive title which is self-explanatory to anyone searching for information
    - Be on-topic, not rambling
    - Cover frequently asked questions and mainstream topics, not obscure areas of limited interest
    - Have longer-term value beyond amusement or entertainment
    - Present factual or scholarly knowledge, not anecdotal or unverified information
    - Be generally accepted, not speculative or disputed (unless presented as respectable theory)
    - Be neutral or balanced, not self-promoting or opinionated (unless presented as original thought)
    - Be specific and detailed, not general and vague
    - Be clear and provide relevant references, not ambiguous and unattributed
    - Be respectful of copyright and credit to original sources
We sincerely hope that this is not perceived as “censorship” because that is absolutely not the intention. It is however our intention to impose some discipline into the “what, how and where” of the Information Center which is in everyone’s long-term interest. We want the section to become a reference source “par excellence” within which people can readily find things that are truly informative and helpful.
I keep six honest serving-men (they taught me all I knew); Their names are What and Why and When and How and Where and Who.
