Greetings. I'm about 5 years into this thing and thoroughly addicted. I fished and kayaked for years without ever seriously looking for points or other artifacts.
I got into artistic sandblasting on stone about 5 years ago. I began to look for suitable stones and was coincidentally drawn to shiny little pieces of flint along the creek and river banks. I started to take an occasional break from fishing in order to surface hunt for points and other artifacts. Lately, I take a pole with me in case I want to try and catch a fish while I give my eyes a rest.
Growing up fishing and hunting in the area has provided me with access to a lot of private properties in the Colorado and Guadalupe river basins. I am pretty much a surface hunter. Some occasional panning in a shallow creek bed or confluence after a heavy rain. Other than that I've never done any digging. I have permission to in a few places but I wouldn't really know where to start. Hoping to get some good advice and some help with identification from people with much more experience.
Pics of finds(along with a few questions) coming soon!
