  • My first find- surprise!

My husband and I inherited a small farm In central Ky. We have been in the process of taking it from an overgrown honeysuckle field and turning it back to pasture. The lot is 12 acres, which we have been tilling and disking. One area is being used for our organic garden. While working the rows and weeding, I looked down to discover a rock shaped to a point. Then yesterday, I found the one shaped like an arrowhead, plus a smaller rock that looked like it had been worked.

I know nothing about these and was hoping someone might be able to tell me a little more about what I have here.

      Just a flake.

The first two pieces are most likely drills. The orange one looks like a paddle drill with tip broke.

Got to be a lot of artifacts there. Take note of the area you found the drills/ perforators. Has to be a campground with more there ! JJ

Well well welcome to an addiction that will surpass your organic gardening . With those pieces being found there are many more to come . That property of yours will become your own private hunting ground in many ways .

                      Were drills used for planting?

Probably not. They were for perforting wood, bone, leather, etc. The N/A's in different regions had some different tools for planting, like sharp sticks, chipped rock hoes and sod busters.
