Hi. My name is Sarah, my husband is Chris and we are from southern Illinois (Randolph County). We are pretty new to hunting for artifacts but we have always loved the outdoors. Hunting mushrooms, foraging just for fun, hunting animals, camping, fishing...we just enjoy being out but hubby always wants to have a purpose to our walks. When his sister found 2 arrowheads by chance in the creek, we decided to keep our eyes open when we had no other purpose to our walks. After finally finding something ourselves, I decided to start researching so we could learn more which led my here last night. Thanks for all the info and the pics you all post.

Welcome from coastal VA. My daughter is a ranger at Rend Lake and she occasionally has folks turning in artifacts they find around the lake. Your region is rich in artifacts and we’d love to see some of yours.

We’re definitely familiar with Rend Lake. We don’t go there too often since it’t not as close to us as other lakes. We definitely are in an area where there was a lot of Indian activity. Just down the way from us is a place called Piney Creek Ravine where there are petroglyphs.
