Last week was my first post on the Forum. My new book is about The Archaeology of Communal Hunting on the Northwestern Plains. One of the most common point types found in the region are the Pelican Lake which date 3300 - 1600 BP. This picture shows the wide variation in basal morphology found with this type. The longest example in this picture is 6 cm (2 3/8") long. There is wonderful variety of colorful lithics found in this region.
