Hey Andy - That's a puzzler that is. I've been around horses and saddles all my life but never seen a rig like that. However, it's possible it came off a pack rig for horses. I just have never seen anything like that. It looks like a designer type thing rather than a functional piece. Gonna be interesting to find out though.

I assume it’s metal? You didn’t say. I agree with Chuck; it looks more decorative than functional. I’ve been around a lot of horses— show & rodeo—and that just doesn’t ring a bell with me. Sorry...

Where did you find it, i.e house site, civil war camp, the dump. Knowing where something is found can help a lot.
