  • Almost Threw this Away

Sometimes I bring metal caps and stuff home from the ravines to check out. I was cleaning this "aluminum" lid up the other day and almost pitched it in the scrap pile.

I guess it's not aluminum or tin... think I'll keep it. Also found a Pullman button.

The ring and glass stopper came home as well. Vinegar is still doing its thing.

Awesome, man! That's sweet! I never throw anything out without scrutinizing it first.

That's gorgeous! Any other marks on it? What does the back look like? I'd be back in that spot often. Always cool to find silver

Broken Arrow, I can't find any other marks on it. I believe it is a lid for a cosmetic jar of some kind. I hit this ravine after every major storm. If I wasn't so lazy, I would be down there with a shovel.

I'd say you're probably right with the cosmetic jar lid idea. Its very nice. Is that ring silver also

I discovered a little history with the Pullman button. Sleeper cars, porters, and the first black union. I thought it was going to be a jean making company, so you never know until you research the item.

Beautiful art nouveau design. Too bad you can't find a makers mark on it. If I had to guess, I'd say it was either Gorham or Wallace silver. I hope you find the jar it goes to.
