  • 10 Years of Collecting in Ohio

2019 marks my tenth year of collecting artifacts in Ohio. I have a meager cabinet of field finds and a few bottle displays for my time.

I won't bore you with every flake, jar, and bauble but I thought a few of my best might show the newer guys what is still out there to be found. Here is a baker's dozen of artifacts, including points, game ball, and scrapers. They all have a story to tell and each one made my day when they were discovered.

Two that might merit a close up made from Carter County flint.

I like my glass so here are some hand finished cork tops and a couple trilobites pictured with a clay and "moonie" marble.

Most of the time, the plow has done its damage but now and then a gem turns up. To touch a piece of history and reclaim it from the dirt is one thing I never get enough of. Happy hunting and good luck out there. fldwlkr

Your 10 years looks like a dozen lifetimes +++ of my native artifacts Tim.
And your glass finds are stunning also.
Now we need to get you to swing the magic walking stick while you walk those Ohio fields.

Thanks Bruce. What type of "magic walking stick" would you recommend for the budget constrained novice?

I have tested the new Vanquish detectors from Minelab and they will work well with any budget. They will be rolling off the assembly line around Christmas time.

Great collection, and those Carter Cave pieces are killer.

Are those Coca Cola straight sides I see on that shelf?

I had a few C.C. & Co. bottles but I gave the good ones away and pitched the damaged ones. The ones pictured are mostly Fuller Xenia Sodas from 1917 and 1918. I'm hoping to score some more of those straight sided Cokes. When I find one it's yours for the asking.

The straight Cokes I find are from the Springfield, Ohio plant.

Quite impressive. Looks like you have your own museum/man cave display. Mine is pending my wife and I moving away from big city Dallas to the country life.
I have been gifting away my bottle collection and other items as well 50+ years. I have just accumulated too much, now no place to show it off except a little at a time.
It is a "Rock" when it's on the ground.
It is a "Specimen" when picked up and taken home.

I have a couple buddies who poke fun at me and call my home a museum. I keep most of it in the back room, with the exception of the emerald and cobalt glass, which the wife also enjoys. Doing my best to keep it a display and not take it to the "hoarder level". Don't give them all away... keep the good stuff.

Absolutely wonderful looking display on those bottles and insulators! Can't believe you found so much metal treasure without a detector. And the points yea killer!

So organized looks great. I know a guy who has a bedroom with nothing but artifacts in it cabinets and shelves full of things. Makes me drool every time I stop by and look.

One of the best Man Cave Displays I’ve seen! The back-lit Bottle And insulator rack is top notch. Great artifacts and finds! Thanks for sharing
