Ya just never know what you’ll find. This find was scored at the thrift store. My winter hunting grounds when the ground is buried in snow and frozen solid. I found these Carhartt overalls that looked almost new and snapped them up for $16. I’m a working man and wear bibs so the price was right. I also collect a great many things including old work and hunting jackets. The style of the bibs got me interested so I started to research them and that research led me to the the Carhartt Archive. Yes Carhartt actually has an archive to preserve the rich history of the company and it’s ties to working folks. Turns out the low back bibs date from 1925 or earlier. I couldn’t believe the date as they looked almost new. The man at the archives told me the bibs probably sold new for about $0.30. The man at the archive also said he would love to have them in the archive as they were an important piece of Carhartt history. Well they are now part of the Carhartt Archive. The company purchased the bibs from me for $1,400. Ya just never know what you’ll stumble on when your on the hunt either in the cornfield or in the thrift store.

Thanks guys. Believe it or not they probably would have went for more on an online auction. Being that Carhartt is a Michigan company and they have a place to save the history of clothing worn by working class folks like us I thought that is where they belong. Of course I couldn’t refuse they offer they made me either.Uncle Trav- Southwest Michigan
