    Hey all....i found this today on one of my hunts.....wondering if anyone can tell me age, maybe what it locked/unlocked?.....its metallic but not magnetic.....im thinking its copper and due to size maybe was a key to an old trunk/chest Click image for larger version

      I know right.....i showed it to my buddy and he has found indian head pennies over their dated to 1890's

        Not sure Tam....buddy of mine has found indian head pennies in same location dating to 1890

      Your skeleton key is made from brass. Copper is to soft. It is well over 100 years old. I say that because of the gorgeous green patina.

        What a awesome find man. Really for a surface find. I enjoy metal detecting and 99% of the time I dig up pop caps or old nails.

          Thanks inviz.....i wished i wouldve got a insitu, but it threw me off due to where it was found and the green color....wasnt really sure what i had till i picked it up and held it
