I purchase a civil war relic display from Goodwill (shocked to find it!) but I don’t know what the top brass item might be. I believe I’ve got a Union breast plate, an infantry coat button, another eagle coat button, four bullets and the unknown item… any ideas?
I’m thinking a cannon touch hole tool. The hook would be used to puncture a hole in powder bags used in the cannon. The twisted wire for clearing the touch hole. A pic of a similar tool 5th from the right. Just a guess
Now that’s a nice score!!!
Most of the time they go through stuff and auction off stuff like this. Every now and then a newby puts something nice on the shelf and that’s probably what happened.
